French Parliament Passes Resolution Supporting Taiwan’s Participation In Global Organizations

The foreign ministry on Tuesday said both chambers of the French Parliament have passed a pro-Taiwan resolution for the first time within six months.

The French National Assembly on Monday passed a resolution confirming the French government’s support of Taiwan’s participation in international organizations. Meanwhile, the French Senate passed its own version in May.

The foreign ministry expressed thanks for France’s efforts, adding that the two countries share the same universal values in democracy, freedom and human rights.

The ministry said that Taiwan and France have grown closer in relations in recent years. That includes in the areas of trade, environmental issues, epidemic prevention, technology, energy, and innovation. It said both sides will continue to work on the importance of security in the Indo-Pacific region, and peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.
